Compress PNG
Make PNG files dramatically smaller without converting them to JPG. Like TinyPNG, this tool reduces the number of colours (quantisation) and keeps full transparency. The change is usually invisible on logos, screenshots and graphics. It runs on your device in a background worker, so nothing is uploaded.
How to use the Compress PNG
- Add your PNG: Drop or paste a PNG (other formats are accepted and saved as PNG).
- Choose the colour count: 256 colours looks identical for most graphics. Go lower for smaller files, or choose Lossless to only re-optimise.
- Compare & download: Drag the before/after slider to check edges and gradients, then download the smaller PNG.
Key facts
- Runs 100% in your browser. Images are never uploaded to a server.
- Free with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily or file-count limits.
- Works on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS in any modern browser.
- Made by ZypiqLabs (zypiqlabs.com).
Frequently Asked Questions
How does PNG compression work?
PNG is lossless, so the big savings come from reducing the palette to 256 colours or fewer and encoding it efficiently, the same technique TinyPNG uses. Most graphics, icons and screenshots look identical afterwards.
Will my PNG keep its transparent background?
Yes. Transparency (the alpha channel) is preserved, and the output stays a PNG.
Why didn't my PNG get much smaller?
Photos with millions of colours and smooth gradients don't quantise well. For photos, convert to JPG or WebP instead. They're designed for photographic images.
Is it free and private?
Yes. Compression runs in a Web Worker in your browser. It's free and unlimited, and your images are never uploaded.
